I had been working with a student for a couple of years now. She really wanted to go to San Diego State. She worked really hard for it. When the decisions were coming back, I was proud that she came and told me that she had been accepted. I was very proud of her.

Alexzander Sanchez-Reyes

SDSU, HOOVER CLASS OF 2018

I attended Rosa Parks Elementary School, Monroe Clark Middle School, and Hoover High.

What I enjoyed most about CAC was the support and care from all the staff when I was in high school especially during SAT/ACT sign ups. The mentors always kept their patience with me, and I really appreciated that. I only had an older sibling that went to a University, but he could only help with the little details because CAC had helped him during his years in high school. Therefore, I relied on CAC just as my brother. CAC always put us, the students, first and helped in any way that they possibly could. The most valuable experience I got was receiving the College Avenue medal and wearing it to graduation.

Demian Rodriguez

USC, HOOVER CLASS OF 2018

I attended Rosa Parks Elementary School, Monroe Clark Middle School, and Hoover High School.

The thing I enjoyed most about CAC was that everyone was always so helpful, especially when it came time to apply for college. I knew I could always get help from the CAC staff whenever I didn’t understand something about the college application process. The most valuable experience I got from CAC was the college trips that we took; they were especially helpful in allowing me to understand what it’s like to be a college student in a college campus. The college trips only strengthened my desire to go to college, and CAC helped me every step of the way. Fight on!

Oscar Silva

SDSU, HOOVER CLASS OF 2019

I went to Rosa Parks Elementary School, Monroe Clark Middle School, and then Hoover High School. One thing I enjoyed about CAC is how supportive they were.

CAC was always there to help me and answer any questions I had about graduation requirements and college. The most memorable experience I had while in CAC was when I got the chance to go to the Bay Area and visit 4 different universities. I got to learn more about what the campuses were like and what the universities offered.

Allison Hermosa

UCSD, HOOVER CLASS OF 2018

College Avenue Compact exposed me to the idea of attending college. Their guidance offered me an opportunity to develop my skills and put my college readiness into practice. Without College Avenue Compact, I would have never taken the SAT or ACT or known why it’s so important to take four math classes rather than three. For so long, I believed that College Avenue Compact slightly impacted my future, however, College Avenue Compact has completely changed my life.
