Information regarding COVID-19

In just a matter of days, our world has changed dramatically. We’re all feeling tremendous uncertainty and tension as our nation tries to navigate this unprecedented moment. As our community contends with the coronavirus pandemic, College Avenue Compact is also making changes in how we operate. To do our part in mitigating the spread of the virus, our office has officially closed and all of our staff are working remotely until further notice. We have also made the difficult decision to suspend our regularly scheduled student and family programming, in alignment with the San Diego Unified School District’s recommendations. In the meantime, we are working hard to move meetings and events virtual whenever possible to ensure that you still have access to important college related information.  Our mission remains the same- to support students and families in making college possible. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we continue to explore ways to best support you while maintaining the safety of all.

College Avenue Compact continues to monitor and assess this ever-evolving situation and we will continue doing our best to keep you informed and provide updates accordingly. This is clearly uncharted territory for everyone and although none of us knows what lies ahead, we are committed to continue being a resource to students and families during this difficult time.

For any questions, please contact us at (619) 594-0987. For students needing assistance with any college related questions, please contact Claudia Rodriguez at crodriguez@sdsu.edu. For ongoing updates and resources, please subscribe to our mailing list!

All my best,
Melissa Naranjo
Executive Director

WHO WE ARE

College Avenue Compact is a unique partnership between Price Philanthropies, San Diego State University and San Diego Unified School District.

We are a college access program that works with first-generation, low-income 7th – 12th grade students from Monroe Clark Middle,  Wilson Middle and Hoover High School. College preparation services are provided to support a college-going culture. With the help of our program, our students can earn guaranteed admission to SDSU if they meet certain academic requirements.

We are dedicated to making college possible for all students and future generations.

Student testimonial

I am proud to be a Wilson Tiger and I have taken advantages of many opportunities here. I am a College Avenue Compact Scholar, a member of the Cesar Chavez Service Club, VP of Wilson Student Association and soccer player. Next year I will be a Hoover Cardinal and will continue with College Avenue Compact and my service club activities at Hoover. I have attended Hoover Cluster schools since I started in kindergarten at Central Elementary, staying at my neighbourhood schools has helped me build friendships and made my change from elementary to middle and now to high school easier.
